Internationalization at the Salazar y Herrera University Institution will be inspired by its university autonomy, The school's educational program, its nature, its identity and the guidelines set forth in the development plan 2020 - 2022 (Agreement, 084, 2020), the institutional educational project - PEI (Agreement, 086, 2020), the School and Program Educational Projects - PEP, the self-evaluation processes and improvement actions, CELAM, the Global Pact for Education of His Holiness Pope Francis and other regulatory documents in coherence with the institutional dynamics and the Ministry of National Education.

The Institución Universitaria Salazar y Herrera will promote intercultural citizenship, understanding interculturality as a synonym of two concepts: Dialogue and horizontality. It will invite its academic community to engage in open communication among equals, in which diversity is a value of learning and lifelong learning. This founding premise understands this new intercultural citizen from otherness and in the light of UNESCO defines it as the citizen capable of “to reconcile multiple identities and contexts simultaneously, to assume the ability to engage in intercultural dialogues while respecting the rights of cultural others, and ideally become a step towards the promotion of cultural diversity.z”.
Internationalization of the curriculum promote the adaptation of academic curricula to intercultural references and global requirements., The use of new technologies and permanent interaction with peer institutions at local, national and international levels.
The Institución Universitaria Salazar y Herrera will promote actions from the research for the development of academic mobility, The project is based on the exchange of knowledge, the development of inter-institutional projects and networking.
The internationalization of the Institution will be articulated with other HEIs, both national and international, through the participation and generation of international events, membership and participation in international networks and the presence of institutional authorities in different events of international impact.
Services
The Center for Internationalization and Interculturality manages and advises:
- The University's national and international visibility strategy in conjunction with other academic and administrative units.
- Institutional leadership and governance in the creation of internationalization guidelines and their updating.
- It facilitates the construction of the internationalization plans of the faculties.
- The construction of the annual internationalization budget of the IUSH academic community.
- The evaluation and relevance of the internationalization actions carried out within the Institution.
- Calls for academic mobility within the IUSH.
- Identifies and disseminates opportunities and calls associated with the internationalization process.
- Supports the Rector's Office and Vice Rector's Offices in all internationalization activities and strategies.

Services
- Disseminate opportunities for local, national and international student multimodal curricular flexibility experiences.
- Disseminate opportunities abroad and scholarships to the academic community.
- Counseling for the recognition of credits and degrees obtained abroad.
- Facilitate visibility and strategic interaction with local, national and international inter-organizational partners.
- Assist in the formulation, signing and implementation of inter-institutional agreements.
- Advise and support the academic areas to comply with the internationalization plans and MEN requirements.

Mission
The Institución Universitaria Salazar y Herrera assumes internationalization as a process and a higher purpose.
As a process
It understands it as the incorporation of the international and intercultural dimension in the development of the substantive functions and in the management of the institution, in order to support the integral and global formation of the student and to facilitate IUSH visibility and interaction by promoting: intercultural dialogue, fostering academic and scientific inter-university networks, strengthening local, regional, national and international capacities through inter-institutional collaboration and interaction with society, business and the state in the world.
As a higher purpose
The intention is to detonate in human beings the spirit of proactivity, exploration, co-creation and innovation accompanying the formation of socially responsible people and intercultural citizens capable of being resilient in the face of uncertainty and responsible for change, development and the creation of hope in the face of the global challenges facing humanity.
Vision
In the year 2028 the Center for Internationalization and Interculturality at Institución Universitaria Salazar y Herrera will focus on incorporating and articulating the international dimension in the strategic, tactical and operational to the substantive functions, contributing decisively to the quality and excellence of its schools and academic programs through: Strategic interaction, internationalization of the curriculum, interculturality, global learning communities, internationalization of research, innovation and entrepreneurship, international co-creation for the development and management of knowledge and traceability of internationalization information. Serving society with the formation of intercultural citizens.
