Scholarships

Institutional scholarships are an economic stimulus aimed at supporting students in their academic training and promoting their permanence in higher education. These scholarships are aimed at students with sporting, cultural and artistic merits, as well as those in situations of socioeconomic vulnerability. 

In order to access these benefits, students must participate in semesterly calls for applications, meet academic requirements and demonstrate their commitment to the institution through activities such as social work. Scholarships are not cumulative with other benefits granted by the university and their allocation is made through the Scholarship Committee, in coordination with Institutional Welfare and the Rector's Office. 

Requirements:

  • Fill out the registration form.
  • Scholarships for athletic representation will be considered for a 25% tuition discount, as decided by the Scholarship Committee according to the applications.
  • The student must have a cumulative semester GPA of 3.5, with a minimum of 10 credits enrolled.
  • Must perform social work activities within the Institution.
  • Students who wish to apply for a scholarship must be in their second semester or higher.
  • Represent the Institución Universitaria Salazar y Herrera in a competitive sport; or, if he/she cannot represent it, given his/her significant demonstrable recognition, with prior authorization, he/she may apply for the scholarship.
  • Not having disciplinary processes in the Institution.
  • Be in good standing with the Institution.
  • The scholarship only applies to Institución Universitaria Salazar y Herrera.
  • The scholarships apply to technological and professional education in all academic programs offered by the Institution.
  • The Scholarship Committee reserves the right to analyze, select and award scholarships according to the number of applicants and their characteristics.
  • The scholarship is not cumulative with other scholarships awarded by the Institution.
  • If the student has taken the highest number of credits in the program, the 10 credits requirement does not apply.
  • If the student is a beneficiary of an economic resources fund (private or public) that allocates academic scholarships and additionally meets all the requirements to be a beneficiary of the athletic scholarship, the benefits will not be exclusive, however, it should be clear that no money will be refunded. For these specific cases, the respective analysis will be made and an effort will be made to ensure that the athletic scholarship covers those values that were not covered by the private or public financial resources fund.
  • In the event that the student uses the severance pay to pay tuition and is awarded the athletic scholarship, it must be made clear that no refund will be made. For these specific cases, the respective analysis will be made and an effort will be made to ensure that the athletic scholarship covers those values that were not covered by the severance pay.
  • If the student is in his/her last semester, the scholarship benefit may be used in academic programs, extension programs or different services offered by the institution.

  1. Resume as an athlete.
  2. Documents, photographic materials and/or certificates of their sports practice and that accredit the representation of the Institution. They must be precise in dates and what type of competition was carried out; also if it was in representation of the Institución Universitaria Salazar y Herrera or independent.
  3. Extrajudice certifying that the applicant does not earn a salary higher than two (2) S.M.M.L.V. Exceptions will be made in those cases in which the need for the economic incentive for the continuity of studies in the academic program is demonstrated to the Rector's Office by means of a letter.
  4. If you have an external scholarship, attach a certificate from the granting institution stating the percentage assigned.
  5. The scholarship will be cancelled for any of the following reasons:
 
  • Failure to comply, or failure to comply, with the consideration required from the social work student for the awarding of the economic incentive.
  • Submitting false information to comply with the requirements for the granting of the incentive.
  • For disciplinary offenses (RAE. Title IV of the disciplinary regime. Article 79).
  • For cancellation of enrollment in the academic program.
  • The applicant is not in good standing with the Institución Universitaria Salazar y Herrera.
 

NOTE: The economic benefit granted through the sports scholarship is a semester scholarship, which means that those interested must apply each semester.

For these specific cases, the respective analysis will be made and the cultural and artistic scholarship will cover those values that were not covered by the severance pay.
  • If the student is in his/her last semester, the scholarship benefit may be used in academic programs, extension programs or different services offered by the institution.

  1. Resume as an artist.

  • The percentage of the scholarship will be defined in accordance with the budget allocated for this purpose, and the considerations and decisions made by the Rector's Office.
  • The student must have a cumulative semester GPA of 3.5 with a minimum of 10 credits enrolled.
  • If the student has taken the highest number of credits in the program, the 10 credits requirement does not apply.
  • Students who wish to apply for a scholarship can only do so during their second or subsequent semesters.
  • If the student is in his/her last semester, the scholarship benefit may be used in academic programs, extension programs or different services offered by the institution during that semester.
  • In the case of belonging to an indigenous community, Afro, Rrom, must be registered with the Directorate of Indigenous Affairs, Minorities and ROM of the Ministry of Interior.
  • In case of being a population with disabilities, the corresponding certificates must be submitted.
  • Not having disciplinary processes in the Institución Universitaria Salazar y Herrera.
  • Be in good standing with the Institution.
  • The scholarships apply to technological and professional education in all academic programs offered by the institution.
  • The Scholarship Committee reserves the right to provide information on the process of analysis, selection and awarding of scholarships, depending on the number of applicants and their characteristics.
  • The scholarship is not cumulative with other scholarships granted by the institution.
  • The student must not be a beneficiary of any other type of institutional scholarship, corporate scholarship or fund administered by sapiencia.
  • In the event that the student uses the severance pay to pay tuition and is granted the solidarity scholarship, it must be made clear that no money will be returned. For these specific cases, the respective analysis will be made and an effort will be made to ensure that the solidarity and inclusion scholarship covers the amounts that were not covered by the severance pay.

  • Resume with all personal data.
  • Documents and/or certificates attesting to being a population with disabilities or belonging to an indigenous, Afro or Rrom community.
  • Photocopy of utilities.
  • Reasoned request with full identification of the student (written letter explaining the situation).
  • Attach documentation of evidence of the difficulty you state, this must be motivated by the following causes:

  1. Loss of employment (contract termination letter or copy of social benefits settlement)
  2. Decrease in salary (letter from the company certifying such decrease)
  3. Temporary suspension of income (letter from the company certifying such suspension).

  • In case of disabled population: Medical certification from EPS or competent body specifying the degree and type of disability -physical, sensory, permanent-, according to Law 361 of 1997. If you present disability, you must attach the documents that certify this situation, issued by the competent authority.
  • In the case of belonging to an indigenous community, Afro, Rrom, must be registered with the Directorate of Indigenous Affairs, Minorities and ROM of the Ministry of Interior. Therefore, they must submit the certificate issued to them.
  • Serious illness (certificate of medical diagnosis).
  • Cessation of commercial activities (submit a current certificate from the chamber of commerce and a letter from a public accountant certifying the cessation of activities or decrease in income).
